How to Boot from a Sol 2.8 disk on Fujitsu SPARC Hardware

Hi All,

Interesting problem here. I have a Solaris 2.8 boot disk, (install was
initially performed on a Sun 3800) I now work in an Environment with no
Sun hardware, all Fujitsu SPARC. I have some files which I wish to
retrieve from the boot disk. Here is my problem

1) The boot disk has Veritas Volume Manger installed, the root disk is
encapsulated (partions / and /var only).

2) The files I wish to retrieve are located in a VXFS filesystem, on a
Volume (volume is part of rootdg) The Vol is also pysically located on
the boot disk too, slice 5

Q) Is there any way I can boot this disk on Fujitsu SPARC Hardware. The
CPU's are SPARC III 602 MHZ. I can't see any other way to mount the vxfs
filesystem to another system. Volume manager will always complain as the
Volume name is rootdg, but as it is from anohter machine the Volume tag/id
is different from machine which you try to mount on

Any help would be much appreciated

thanks

John
