Hi all,

I have a StorageTek L20 connected to a PCI Antares U3WL SCSI card on a Ultra
5 running Solaris 8. The SCSI card is detected at boot up and the driver
for the L20 DLT8000 is loaded as expected. And the devices are successfully
created in the appropriate /dev and /devices directories. The problem is
that for no apparent reason, the system loses the DLT8000... When I try to
check the status of the tape drive, I get the following message:

% mt -f <tapename> status
<tapename>: No such device or address

I have installed all the relevant OS patches and I have checked the Antares
web site for updated drivers within the last two months, and there were no
updated drivers.

The system must be up 24/7... and the only work around that I have is to
reboot the system into single user mode using "% reboot -- -rs" and a file
to the tape drive ... then continue booting into multi-user mode.

The 'disappearance' of the tape drive is occuring more frequently now. Can
anyone help me.

Thanks.

Moe
