vxio:vol_default_iodelay/Solaris questions

Hello,

I have an older soon-to-be-retired systems running an imporant app on
Solaris 2.6 with {sun-branded} VxVM 2.5., running SUN cluster 2.2

It also has legacy sun disk, using VxVM for mirroring.

If the active node crashes, when SC tries to start the volumes, if they're
not synced it takes about 3 HOURS to sync the mirrors and start the volumes.

I see Veritas Tech Note 238617, which describes setting in /etc/system:

set vxio:vol_default_iodelay={lower than the default of 50}.

I set this to '0' on a test system running Solaris 8/VxVM 3.5 and it
decreases time to sync by 2000% (from 10 hours to 30 minutes).

I'm wondering if this parm is valid for 2.5- the tech note only references
3.0 & up. Unfortunately, I have no sandbox domain running VxVM 2.5, so it's
not handy to test.

If it does work, I'm sure it'll really speed up the cluster recovery.

Does anyone else have any solutions to my problem, in case this isn't
implemented/doesn't work? Thanks.

Bucky
