Hi,

thanks to Kanellopoulos Yiannisexperienced a similar problem.

he suggested, that the pinged default gateway has changed its ip adress,
but this wasnt our porblem.

Our problem seems to be the limited bandwidth during backup time.
Therefor the ping needs longer than the configured amount of time
(FAILURE_DETECTION_TIME).

Raising this value helped ,

thanks,
samier.

hi,

solaris 8.

we use in.mpathd on our server.

while we are backingup this server to a remote server we get the follwing
error
messages:
"Cannot meet requested failure detection time of 10000 ms on (inet fjqe0)
new failure detection time is 37590 ms "

in the man page it says that the round trip time is higher thant the
configured
time or the probe targets are loaded.

3 question I have concerning this messages:
Why doesnt the the NIC switch since the timelimit has been met?
What does "probe targets are loaded" mean?
The in.mpathd and the interface are on the same server. how is it possible
that an ICMP request isnt back in 10 s??

i will summarize,
thanks in advance

samier.
