Hello all,

The answer is YES, board 501-4312 can be placed in slot 7 of E3000.
Many people have done it. Apparently, this slot is (known to be) a
tight fit for the board. Patient attempts helped us to install the
board on the slot 7 and the system is doing great.

BTW, in my original posting, I had mentioned board 501-4002 being
in slot-5; it was a mistake. it should have been part # 501-4882.
Many people caught the mistake. thanks.

Original posting is at the end of the message and thanks to the
folks who sent suggestions and answers (not in any particular order).

thanks a lot,
Durai

Subject: E3000 CPU board question...

Hello all,

We have a few E3000 boxes some of them with 2cpus and rest
with 4cpus. We are currently in the process of consolidating
them into minimum number of boxes each with 6cpus (MAX).

The question is can I place a cpu board, part# 501-4312 into
slot 7 of an E3000?

The box already has

                part # 501 4312 in slot 3 and
                part # 501 4002 in slot 5.

I want to place another 501-4312 in slot 7? would that work?
I tried placing the board physically (system powered-off),
it did not get locked in the slot, (i did not force it).

is this possible or not? or am I attempting to do something
not allowed/possible?

thanks for your time, efforts,
Durai
