Some additional information regarding not being able to log into CDE or openwindows.
Turns out I had a corrupted /.dtprofile file. In looking at the file with a cat command it
was all garbage. I replaced it with another copy from my Solaris 8 machine and I'm now able
to log into CDE and openwindows.

Dave.

The eeprom output-device was set to ttya. I changed this
to screen and now the video monitor displays output.

I cannot get into either openwindows or CDE. I get the dtlogin prompt
for username and password and after putting in my username and password
the screen goes white and then immediately goes back to the login
screen. The only window I can log into is the FailSafe Session. I've installed
the drivers, packages, patches, latest kernel patch, set the display
with the show-displays command at the ok prompt and chose the XVR-100
then did setenv output-device mydev, setenv use-nvramrc? true etc. to
set it.

If anyone has any ideas as to why I can't log into CDE or Openwindows
I'd appreciate it.

The ethernet device name on a V120 is eri0 so I created the
/etc/hostname.eri0 file. If you use the 2nd. ethernet port on this
box then create an /etc/hostname.eri1 file as well.

A netstat -rn showed that there was no default gateway entry.

I ran a
# route add default
command to add this entry.

To get the subnetmask and IP address entries to show in the ifconfig -a I ran

# ifconfig eri0 ip-addr netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast + up

My origianal question is below

Just got a V120. I connected it to a laptop and went through
the setup procedure but I kept getting an error that it couldn't
set the IP address I gave it so I had to setup it up as NON Networked.

In order to set it up as a networked machine after the fact I've

modified the /etc/hosts file to include it's IP address
created /etc/resolv.con
/etc/defaultdomain
cp /etc/nsswitch.nisplus nsswitch.conf (This is going in an NIS+ domain)

I'm not sure how/where to tell it about the subnetmask.

Also, there is no hostname. file for the ethernet connection.
Anyone know what the ethernet interface name is i.e. eri0, etc
for a V120?

Also, I installed a XVR-100 graphics card in it but am getting no
display on the monitor. Is there a trick to get the monitor to display?

Thanks.
