Has anyone out there successfully gotten a qfe card in a V480 running
Solaris 9 to work? No matter what I try,

Aug 8 10:33:10 clrftp1 qfe: NOTICE: SUNW,qfe4: No response from Ethernet network : Link Down - cable problem?

This is a brand new V480. Everyone here is stumped, our local Sun techs
are stumped, and the national Sun guys are stumped. Here is the problem
and here is what we have tried:

According to our networking department, the MAC address is never sent to
the switch so level 2 is never initiated. Level 1 is fine; The qfe card has
link light.

Sun has replaced the qfe card.

I have moved the qfe card to another PCI slot.

I have removed and reistalled the SUNWqfed and SUNWqfedx packages.

Networking has forced their switch port to 100mbit/full duplex. I have done
the same on the Sun (ndd commands). I have tried it with the ndd turning off
autonegotiating both first and last.

When I plug the network cable into the onboard ce0 port, everything works fine.

I have connected this box with a crossover cable to another server next to
it. The ce0 works fine, but the qfe does not.

I have upgraded the OBP on the V480 to the very latest: 4.10.8.

This problem occurred both before and after I applied the latest (downloaded
yesterday) Solaris 9 Recommended suite of patches from Sun.

I did reconfigure reboots after just about every one of these tests, btw.

Can anyone suggest something else to try?

TIA, and I will summarize.
