manually starting X and CDE for Oracle install

Hello,
I have a machine completely locked down - X and
Dtlogin dont start at boot time. I need to perform and
Oracle install on this machine and hence need X access
of some sort as I plan on doing this from the console.
Can I simply start /etc/init.d/rpc and
/etc/init.d/dtlogin and beable to login from the
console? This machine was last booted without a
keyboard or monitor attached so /dev/console was
redirected to ttya. The reasoning for this is that I
fear doing an Oracle install over a WAN using a PC X
server as I imagine it would be cumbersome. If anyone
could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate
it. Thanks
