Write access for publishing to anon-ftp server

Hi folks,

I have a working anonymous ftp server running on
Solaris 8. Whenever new data needs to be uploaded
to our anon-ftp server the publisher taps me on the
shoulder and asks that the ~ftp/pub directory be
'chmod 777' to allow for write by him. Once done
I 'chmod 755' again so that only root has write access.

I would like to secure write access to the ~ftp/pub
area for this person without compromising security.

Any best practices out there?
