Hi Managers
I am facing a problem in changing the NIS passwd in solaris 2.6
environment."/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/rpc.yppasswdd -D /var/yp -m" is
running in the server.
Following are the daemons running in the server.
# ps -ef |grep yp
root 16680 1 0 12:20:06 ? 0:00
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/rpc.ypupdated
root 16678 1 0 12:20:06 ? 0:00
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/rpc.yppasswdd -D /var/yp -m
root 16661 1 0 12:20:02 ? 0:01
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypserv -d
root 16668 1 0 12:20:03 ? 0:00
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypbind
root 16673 1 0 12:20:06 ? 0:00
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypxfrd
When a user tries to change passwd
$ passwd tadmin
Enter login(NIS) password:
New password:
Re-enter new password:
NIS passwd/attributes changed on stwmcw
$
But he won't be able to use new password.If he tries to change
password by using new passwd,it says
$ passwd tadmin
Enter login(NIS) password:
passwd(SYSTEM): Sorry, wrong passwd
Permission denied
$
If he tries to change passwd again using old passwd following
error comes
$ passwd tadmin
passwd: Changing password for tadmin
Enter login(NIS) password:
New password:
Re-enter new password:
passwd (NIS): Couldn't change passwd/attributes for tadmin
Permission denied
$
Can some one help me solving this issue.
I tried to pull passwd map from master and it says passwd map is
upto date.But if i do a make passwd at master,immediately new
passwd will be reflected for the user
