Metadevice Issues

Dear All,

Having now banged my head against a brick wall for the last few days and acheived nothing I am now turning to you all for help....pleeeaassseee!

I have a metadevice of 36Gb (a) defined as such - /dev/md/rdsk/d10. This consists of two drives (concatenated/striped) - c0t1d0s0 (18Gb) and c1t5d0s0 18(Gb).
I also have a single 18Gb disk (b) defined as c1t4d0s0

When I 'newfs' disk (b) it completes successfully - running fsck confirms this. However, I then newfs the metadevice (a) - although this completes successfully, when I run fsck it shows errors on the Super-Block ("easy to fix" , I hear you say).

The problem is that running fsck on the single disk (b) now also show block errors.

Carrying this routine out the other way - that is running newfs on the metadevice, checking it and then running newfs on the single drive causes the same problems.
Also, when I newfs each of the disks in the metadevice they are ok, when I newfs them as a metadevice I still get the problem.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Many thanks, I will summarize.

Paul Procter
