Removing devices without reboot

Hi All,

A semi-urgent problem here. Solaris 2.6. Removed (unmapped) some EMC
devices that the server had seen, but are no longer necessary. Devices were
not being used (although we may not have removed them from Veritas). Now
every so often we get errors in the messages file for the devices:

Jul 1 15:13:27 jupiter unix: WARNING: /sbus@e,0/lpfs@2,0/sd@26,1b (sd971):
Jul 1 15:13:27 jupiter unix: offline
Jul 1 15:13:27 jupiter unix:

etcetera. The devices themselves aren't a problem- but these messages get
picked up by Ops and they go pager-crazy.

Removed the devices from /dev/dsk and /dev/rdsk. No help.

Is there a good way to get rid of these (without a reboot?) If I go in and
remove the entries in /dev am I risking catastrophy?

thanks.

Bucky
