the solution is to remove the "FNS Support For X.500 Directory Context" sw-package:
# pkgrm SUNWfnsx5
i can do it without trouble because i don't use this
In my original post, i said automountd died unexpectedly After installing patch 108993-18 on Solaris 8 systems
