We have purchased a Sun SAN (SANbox switches and T3 Arrays) and the Sun QFS filesystem. We do not have any of the
SAM stuff (archiving) just the filesystem.
What I would really like is to find someone else who has worked with these and exchange some email. I will post a
summary to the list.
I have done some searches of the archives and the Internet in general. There are many more questions that answers
out there regarding QFS.
Basically these are the three most important issues we are trying to resolve:
* Intermittent SAN hang, all servers connected freeze, a reboot of all SAN attached servers is necessary.
* Severe performance issues, nowhere near 100MB/sec, usually below 10MB/sec
* When the QFS meta master reboots all QFS clients hang with a filesystem mount problem. All clients must reboot
also.
The guy who originally setup the SAN had been to the Sun SAN course, so I think the hardware layer is basically
sound. We did the QFS ourselves with very limited help from Sun Service. We are investigating bringing in Sun
professional services to straighten it out.
