Increasing file descriptor limit

Hi..

I've searched on google and the archives, and I can't find how to increase the file descriptor limit on Solaris 8 in the kernel (I'm assuming I have to include a parameter in the /etc/system file), without putting the following line in my .profile (ulimit -n 1024).

I'd like to permanently bump up my file descrptor limit to 1024, since I'm facing a performance problem when trying to su as any user to the system. I have an Oracle db loaded on the system, and the alert logs tell me to bump up my file descriptor limit..

My current setting are as follows :

 ulimit -a
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) unlimited
stack(kbytes) 8192
coredump(blocks) unlimited
nofiles(descriptors) 256
vmemory(kbytes) unlimited

Thx and appreciate your help in advance..
