Thanks to all who replied especially Darren Dunham.
The problem briefly was swapping over boot disk from controller 1 to 0.
The problem occurred because there was no disk attached to c0 with target
3. Solaris needs /usr to rebuild /dev and /devices, but because /usr was
now on c0t3.... this device did not exist so it could not build the
devices, sort of chicken and egg scenario. Well thats how I understand it.
There were various suggestions, most suggesting a boot -[a]r which
I neglected to mention I had tried (several times). Some thought the
/etc/vfstab may have fields missing or syntax errors, I did a simple
substitute so this was not the case.Three solutions I believe would of
worked two came from Darren and the other from John Mitchell Thanks guys.
1) Add a disk (any disk) onto c0 with bootdisk on c1 reboot -r and this
would build the appropriate devices
2) Boot from cdrom mount bootdisk and run devfsadm -r root_mount_path, I used this method and like above it created the devices
3) Boot from cdrom mount bootdisk and run chroot /root_mount_path /usr/sbin/drvconfig;chroot /root_mount_path /usr/sbin/disks
