FW: Sun V880 Fireplane interconnect

We're considering to try the 'Fireplane interconnect'
on two Sun V880s and use some of the internal hard drives
(four out of six) as storage arrays for our application data.
We plan to use the following parts:
2x Dual Fibre Channel PCI Network Adapter
2x Internal Multipathing Cable
2x 2 Meter SC-SC Fibre Channel Cable
with Veritas FileSystem, VolumeManager, Cluster

The machines will be standing about 1 mile apart,
and connected with single-mode fibre.

I know that this 'feature' is not officially supported by
Sun; anybody has any experience - good or bad - with this?
Is there any hidden obstacle that will prevent us from using
the internal drives instead of external storage arrays?

Thx for your help.

Stefan
