L9 autoloader problem: Correction

Hi,

A couple of updates necessary on this one:

This is intended as a direct response for Rachid B
(sorry, lost your address) and indirectly for anyone else
who has any of the SUN autoloaders which use the HP
changer mechanisms (L20/40/60 patchid 111972-04)

3 things for you to check. The hard error message
relating to inability to locate home position is frequently
caused by a firmware bug. The solution is usually to
upgrade firmware to latest revs. Alternative causes are
hardware errors in the translation mechanism which will
then require a replacement. It can also be caused by
partial drive servo failure whereby the tape fails to eject
from the drive properly and hence causes an obstruction
to the translation mechanism.

L9 firmware update is 2.55 included in 112141-02.
I'd omitted this info previously.

For the L20 series, any version of firmware below 1.25 is
susceptible. Current version is 1.55 (not 1.33 as I said
originally) included in 111972-04

Many thanks to Jay Lessert for keeping me honest on
this one and for all those who responded with tales of
woe about L20 series loaders.

Joe
