System failover/disaster protection options?

hi,

I have a E4500 Server running Oracle database of around 200Gb
(on EMC). It is a critical system with less tolerance for
unplanned or long down times. What are the options i have to
make this setup more robust?

One option i have is: Using EMC BCVs i.e add a third mirror
(BCV) to the existing EMC setup; then connect another E4500
system to use the BCV copy. Everyday, the BCV can be synced and
split. This way we will have one good protected copy to fall
back on incase of maintenance times or system problem. The
swing box will remain unused, except in case of the original
E4500 being down.

Veritas Cluster doesn't seem to be an option, since during
any maintenance on the system (upgrading oracle, adding patches,
making changes to application software etc), both the nodes
would need to be down and there is no protection against the
existing data on the disk getting corrupted due to the changes.

  Any suggestions?

thanks
ST
