Q: Annoying RT-Bracket "Pastes" (sporatic problem)

Hi all,

a small but very annoying sporatic problem we've got here with a few
machines (e250,e450,e3500 all running solaris8 @
"most-recent-patch-cluster within ~1 month")

Sporatically, a user shell (typically csh) as accessed from DTTerm
behaves thus:

pressing the ")" key (ie, shift-zero) causes a "paste" of whatever is in
the buffer currently, rather than a ")" symbol to appear.

This can be quite disruptive if, say, you are coding in VI and have 100
lines of text in your buffer, and you happen to be competing a pair of ()'s

It does not happen "all" the time, but has been happening sporatically
to many people for a number of months now.

Typically, starting a new dt-term (ie, clicking the "terminal" icon from
the CDE bar) gives a new shell environment that behaves "normally" (ie,
you have access to ()'s without the paste-problem. In contrast, from an
"affected" shell/term, SU'ing to yourself (hence reloading .cshrc /
resetting environment) fails to fix the problem.

I haven't been able to isolate any "cause" nor have I found any similar
reports in google / sunsolve / sunmanagers.

IF anyone has seen this (?!) or has any ideas about what might be going
on .. any assistance would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim Chipman
