BACKGROUND INFO
One more background information, our german Sun partner/dealer
Adiva told us "Sun stopped shipping of V210 and V240 worldwide"
as reason for why they can't deliver the machines to us.
At this time I don't know for how long the machines are delayed.
Therefore I need replacement machines for the two machine
types, but this is not easy, since they come with really
knifty features, like the 4x 10/100/1000 on board and the
CPUs are quick (Ultra SPARC IIIi) AND on both machines you
can add a 2nd ... So its not so easy to decide for which
machines to go. And we need them rack mountable.
Concentration of all applications to fewer machines on
280R and V480 is not an option, since we can't predict
for sure, how the applications interact together on one machine.
SUMMARY
It seems that SunFire 120 and 280R comes closest, but the
120 has smaller CPU, only allows 1 CPU and only has 1 PCI slot
free :-/ So its not a real solution in my eyes. Maybe we
try to stick to the 280R which is more expandable.
Concerning the V240 I heard from two people, that they run well
and Dave reported, he asked sun and they didn't know of any problem ...
I will do an additional report if I get told, what exactly
is not o.k. with the two machines.

Where did you hear this? We have some on order and haven't heard anything.
If you can't get a V240, the closest thing is probably a 280R.

I'm curious as to what error on the v240 you're talking about, and where you
heard of this? We just got a v240 today, and it seems to be working fine...

We have six V240s and they are working without problems. What specific
problem you referring to? Which boards are having problems? I would be
interested to hear what you know. I could then validate your information
on my systems.
