Oracle Shared memory

        Hi sunmanagers,

I am in the process of migrating an Oracle DB to a new Server, a SunFire
V880 4CPU 32GB RAM. The old server only had 8GB RAM of which Oracle only
used 1GB (don't ask me why). The problems I have are
1.) shared memory configuration. Oracle should get abot 24GB RAM, can
someone point me on how to configure the shared memory ? The only
documentation I found was quite old ( for Solaris 7 ).
2) If I allocate more then 8GB RAM to Oracle in the oracle.ini the DBA
Manager shows either negative amounts of RAM used or nothing. Does anyone
know if this is just a variable overflow or if there is a real problem.

Soeren
