Try enclosing the $line in double quotes. Like this:
echo "$line" | awk -F\t '{print $2}'

hi!
I'm using a line like :
echo $line|awk -F\t '{print $2}'
it works in the command line but not in a script : I'm trying to extract
the 2nd field of the line $line, with horizontal tabulation as
separator.
any help please?
