My deepest thanks to all of you who have replied.
I have checked and set the path.
I'm was using gcc3.x+ but now am using gcc-2.95.3.
I have checked the CC variable.
When I echo the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable, it is blank (but I don't know
what to set it to), and perhaps this is what the config.log is complaining
about? Your guidance for this compiling newbie is appreciated.
The config.log file reads (in part)
