Weird V880 boot issue

I recently Jumpstarted two brand new V880 servers, with a Solaris 8
2/02 flash archive, that I have used extensively.

The problem is that it will not, by default, boot from the HDD, see
below;

{1} ok printenv boot-device
boot-device = disk net
{1} ok devalias disk
disk /pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@2/fp@0,0/disk@0,0
{1} ok show-disks
a) /pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@2/fp@0,0/disk
b) /pci@8,700000/scsi@1/disk
q) NO SELECTION
Enter Selection, q to quit: q

{1} ok boot

Reading temperature limits from FRUPROMs: CPU0/2 CPU1/3 MB I/O DBP0
Environmental monitor is ON
Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device: net File and args:
             ~~~
But 'boot disk', does this;
{3} ok boot disk
Boot device: /pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@2/fp@0,0/disk@0,0 File and args:
Loading ufs-file-system package 1.4 04 Aug 1995 13:02:54.
FCode UFS Reader 1.11 97/07/10 16:19:15.
Loading: /platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-880/ufsboot
... etc
When you reboot, it wants to boot from the network, when you type
'boot', it wants to boot from the network, when you type 'boot disk',
boots fine from the internal disk. I tried changing boot-device to just
'disk', no change, then to the hardware path for the OS disk, still the
same. Tried 'set-defaults', no difference. Tried doing a
'sys-unconfig', just for something to try, not very surprisingly.
Anyone any clues whats going on,
Cheers, very confused,
David
