Hi people,

I'm having a problem with an A1000 connected to an E450. When booting up
the server can't mount any file systems on the A1000. I get the
following error:

Checking ufs file system
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s0: I/O error
Can't open /dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s0
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s0: CAN'T CHECK FILE SYSTEM.
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s0: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s6: I/O error
Can't open /dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s6
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s6: CAN'T CHECK FILE SYSTEM.
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d0s6: UNEXPECTEDINCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d1s0: No such device or address
Can't open /dev/rdsk/c6t0d1s0
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d1s0: CAN'T CHECK FILE SYSTEM.
/dev/rdsk/c6t0d1s0: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.

When I run format on the slices I get an error that says no disk found.

I have scanned thru the last days logs and I haven't found anything that
indicates any problems.

I also noted that only indicator on the A1000 that shows that something
is wrong is the "battery fault" diode. I checked the battery and yes, it
is old and needs to be replaced. Since I don't have an extra battery
laying around, I tried to verify my suspicions by exchanging the battery
with one that is in another A1000. Unfortunately I got the same errors.

Now I'm wondering if the faulty battery really is the only cause of the
problem or if there is something else that can cause this and how to
find out what is really causing this.

I'm in real need of any help I can get.

Thanks in advance,

/Johan
