Sun ONE Directory Server and SNMP configuration

I have a pretty basic installation of Solaris 9, 12-02 with the Sun
ONE directory server installed. I would like to be able to gather
statistics from this box via SNMP, specifically the LDAP enterprises
MIB. I don't have any network wide SNMP management infrastructure,
just agents running on various machines polled by Nagios and Cricket.
I'm running into a couple of problems:

    1) Whenever I try to configure the SNMP master agent in the Sun
ONE administration server, it throws a Java exception and gives
me a blank window. Is there any way I can do the equivalent
via command lines (even editing some files would be fine)?
    2) I don't have the greatest grasp on how the Sun ONE magt and
sagt programs interact with Solaris' snmpdx system, if at all.
I come from the UCD/NET-SNMP world. Some pointers on where to
look for this info would be helpful.

Essentially, I just want to be able to run 'snmpget host community
1.3.6.1.4.1.1450.7.1.1.1.389' from another host and get the anonymous
binds count (for example; extend to the rest of the MIB, of course).
A basic description of how to make this work is what I'm after.

Thanks,
