Low Level Format

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the question how to bring back A1000 and
A4500/FC devices basically from the dead.

Although I received many excellent responses driving me to basically the same
information (How to power on and off the D1000,s, and swap devices)

I determined that if you "purge" the disks in format before you put them into
a RAID array, it works exponentially better.

Now comes a dilemma, is there a faster way to low level format disks in
Solaris, rather than the purge command. That works wonders to remove all
traces of raid management from the disks, it however does take a LONG time.

I literally have over 100 of these units to get up and running between
A1000's, and A3500's with 5 - 7 D1000 each.

In filling all of these up, I am going to need to purge ALOT of disks...

If anyone has any suggestions for a rapid low level cleaning, I would
appreciate it.
