Hello all,

I am getting very frustrated trying to set up Solaris 9 Volume Manager
disk sets on two servers...
I have two E45 servers and two 14 disks A5000 systems.. each of the disk
arrays is connected to both servers...

Now the docs are very clear in that for the disk set to be configured on
the two hosts, the disks must have the same controller numbers, target
numbers and also minor and major numbers.... The docs make no mention
whatsoever as to what you are supposed to do when, guess what? when they
don't F##### match!

After many reboots -r, many rm -rf /a/dev|ices devfsadm -C .. etc, I got
all the controller numbers and scsi target numbers to match... also the
major numbers happen to match... but not the minor numbers for one
shelve....

host1# ls -Ll /dev/dsk/c[10]t*d0s0
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118, 64 May 15 09:31 /dev/dsk/c0t32d0s0
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118, 40 May 15 09:31 /dev/dsk/c0t33d0s0
...
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118, 128 May 15 09:31 /dev/dsk/c1t5d0s0
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118, 184 May 15 09:31 /dev/dsk/c1t6d0s0

host2# ls -Ll /a/dev/dsk/c[10]t*d0s0
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118,176 May 14 13:24 /a/dev/dsk/c0t32d0s0
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118,152 May 14 13:24 /a/dev/dsk/c0t33d0s0
...
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118, 8 May 14 13:24 /a/dev/dsk/c1t5d0s0
brw-r----- 1 root sys 118, 64 May 14 13:24 /a/dev/dsk/c1t6d0s0

Any ideas how could this be fixed?

Thank you very much, I will summerize.
Mohamed~
