Wide SCSI in a sparc 5

Good morning/afternoon everyone,

Quick question...but I have a tape drive (Exabyte EZ-17) that I am configuring
for some backups. I'm trying to get it to work with a Sparc5 Workstation.
The back of the Sparc5 has a narrow SCSI (SCSI-2) interface, however the EZ-17
library has a SCSI-3 (Wide) interface.

I have the SCSI-2 to SCSI-3 cable from Sun (I have a spare too...tried them
both), as well as a good terminator.

The problem I'm seeing is that when at the ok prompt, if you have the tape
drive installed (SCSI ID's do NOT conflict either). (HD-3, tape-4, Robot-5) -
is that when you do a probe-scsi-all, all you get is the INITIAL line of the
return information, not any of the disk specifics, and nothing on the tapes.
If you try to do a boot -rs, or boot -r, it cannot find the hard drive at
all.

I've tried replacing my terminator, and cables, and I don't think that that is
the problem. I've also hooked up a SCSI-2 device to the machine, and it works
just fine. Is there something that I missed, concerning SCSI-2 to SCSI-3
interfaces and the older Sparc machines?

Oh, one other note. I did modify my st.conf file as Exabyte
recommends...still no luck. Any Hints? Suggestions? Commiseration?

Thanks in Advance,
