Update: shell geometry changed after patches (was No subject)

First, sorry for posting without a subject.. I've been reading the list for years and know better.

Lots of replies saying that it is obviously a TERM issue (agreed). That was my first thought and I checked that out ad nauseum. Changed TERM variables and, some funky results, but no resolution. The recent patches do not appear to have touched the terminfo directory (dates at least do not reflect a recent change). BUT, it's pretty obvious that it is a TERM problem so I'll re-visit infocmp and tic.

For reference: it was patched in single user, ptem looks untouched, and no I can't upgrade to 8 or 9 :)
