Ultra-10 USB Problems

Hi all,

I have a problem with my managers Ultra-10 (440MHz running Solaris 9).
She wants to be able to read Compact Flash cards which she uses like
large capacity floppies to transfer data to and from other machines.
Her Ultra-10 has a Symbios SCSI PCI card which interfaces a DDS4 and
CDRW to the machine.

I put the USB (2.0) PCi card in (Age Star Inc. UC-3 Ver 2.0 with a VIA
VT6202 chip) into the machine and powered it on. The machine beeped
and started to work but then didn't go any further - no display, nothing.

I had time to experiment so I took out the SCSI PCI card and restarted
and the machine then came up. I did a reconfiguration reboot and then
plugged in a CF card reader (Dazzle) and a CF card. I couldn't see the
card anywhere - in /dev /devices, etc. eject -n didn't show it up and
re-starting vold didn't help either. The same goes with devfsadm.

Can anyone help me with these two problems? 1) I can't have the SCSI
card and the USB card in the machine at the same time and 2) with the
USB card, I can't see any removable devices.

I plugged both devices into a W2K machine and they both functioned
perfectly together. I tried several times more with different event
sequences ie SCSI card and then USB, USB and then SCSI, but to no avail.

Yours confusedly,

Nick
