ESRI ArcIMS 4.0 on Solaris/SPARC 8.0 coredump

Hi sunmanagers,

ESRI haven't been able to help me with this one. I have two shapefile-based
ImageServers running in ESRI ArcIMS 4.0 on Solaris/SPARC 8.0, one of which
is rather large (700Mb of data) and the other is small (4Mb of data). When I
run either one on its own, everything is fine. However, when I run both, the
larger one dumps core whenever there is a request. The small one is still
ok. As soon as I remove the small one, everything is fine.

There is obviously (well, I assume) nothing wrong with either set of data,
as either service will work fine when only one service is running. The
weirdness only occurs when both are running. I've tried (as advised by ESRI
helpdesk types) to put the services in separate virtualservers (different
aimsserver.exe processes <-- yes, they use .exe on solaris), but this
doesn't seem to help (they were the ones who said it was a filehandles issue
(though they also said it was impossible to increase the number of
filehandles available in Solaris).

I have a core file, but I don't know what to do with it, and there is
nothing left in the log files (it just dumps core, so there is no telling
quite why...)

Any ideas?

Cheers

rr
