I dont know that someone out there would have the same experience as I do.
1.
My Sun E-4500 is connected to EMC Symetrix box via SCSI ( 45' long SCSI
cable ). When I run " ls -laR " on a filesystem mounted from EMC box, It
display the content, then pause for a few seconds, and sometime more than
10 secs, then it does the listing again, and sometime it repeat again a
number of time depend on the size of filesystem.
I check the same on internal local drive, it pause also, but not long as on
EMC.
System E-4500 has 3 CPU's with 8MB cache each , Solaris 7.
2.
I run the same on E-3000, connect locally to A-1000, run ls -laR, I did see
the pause, but it may last no more that one second. This system also has 3
CPU with 1MB cache each, Sol 7.
Did you see anything like this and why it pause as such? Is there a patch
to fix it or web site that may give info to fix it.? Hope you have some
clue. Thanks in advance for your help.
