Dear All,
Im not sure how many out there use ATM NIC's in their Sun boxes, so
we'll see how we go =)
I have a scratched out some instructions on how to bring down the ATM
interface on my E450 (lane0) and bring up the (unused)10/100 ethernet
interface.
If anyone out there can take a peak and let me know if it looks OK/terrrible
it would be appreciated.
1. ifconfig lane0 down
2. atmifconfig lane0 unplumb
3. ifconfig -a (lane0 should not be listed)
4. unplug the ATM cables....
5. plug in hme0 cable
6. ifconfig hme0 plumb
7. ifconfig -a (hme0 should now appear I hope)
8. ifconfig hme0 x.x.x.x netmask x.x.x.x up
9. ping something
(NOTE: for some reason, an /etc/hostname.hme0 exists already...... although
this interface is not in use.)
At this stage I would prefer not to remove the ATM interface, just take it
down in case things go pear shaped and I need to bring the ATM link back up.
Any comments would be great!
Thanks everyone,
Chris.
