utmp error

Hi E-Body,
I have 2 problem without any operation. I am on the Solaris 8 Sparc platform. The errors:
1. # touch /reconfigure
   Error
2. when i reboot machine , it produces init error.
   WARNING : var/adm/utmp Exist!
i tried to chmod of the utmpx , i did not successful.

What are they?
