Original email below.
- CPU speeds need to be the same, and there are a few revisions of the
system boards to keep in mind.
- Memory goes in groups of 4.
- DC-DC converters for CPUs are required. Be sure to take them out
when removing CPUs.
- OBP will need to be updated if you use newer CPUs (450Mhz or 464Mhz)
- Hardware docs and a static guard
Thanks all.

Subject: Upgrading E450 hardware
Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 14:33:15 -0500
Hello all,
I'm in the process of moving lots of machines around and decomissioning
them to be sent back to Sun. About a year ago we upgraded 4 E450's to
be fully loaded with our own purchased hardware (Sun certified of
course.) Now, these machines' leases are up, and so is their function so
we're sending them back, keeping our purchased hardware. I am
going to put the "spair" hardware into some Dev and QA machines (also
E450's) and I'm not really sure how to do that. Is it just a simple,
pop the top and add some RAM/CPU's? Any software changes that need to
be made? (I assume not, since there wasn't any the first time someone
did it).
Anything else I should look out for?
