Fellow Managers;
Does anyone know if, and when Solaris might ship with an
implementation of md5 password hashes?
The current implementation is (correct if wrong) crypt, which is a very,
very poor hash implementation these days.
I just created a dictionary of all possible passwords between 4 chars and 8
chars (the dict is very large), which
results in very fast solutions to what I considered to be fairly strong 8
char passwords.
With Solaris already having a PAM foundation, one would think it
would be easy to specify md5
passwords. Does yp/nis/nis+ complicate this?
I will summarize.
Cheers
Chris Price
