Hi SunManagers !
An urgent decision has to be made between SunFire280R with 2x900MHz/8MB
cache and SunEnterprise 420R with 4x450MHz/4MB cache. Both will have 4GB
RAM. The workload will be DataWarehouse/Decision Support (Complex Oracle
queries and batches).
I need to provide arguments that the 280R will perform at least at the same
level as SunEnterprise 420R with a double number of slower CPU's. The
application will run on Solaris 8 (which is mandatory for 280R)
Unfortunatelly looking on www.specbench.org, www.tpc.org or even
www.sun.com, I noticed an incredible lack of information regarding
performance numbers for those machines (Ideally I'm looking for TPC-R or
TPC-H or even the obsoleted TPC-D, since those benchmarks are dealing with
the type of load the machine will handle) .
Please direct me to a reliable source of information for performance
numbers.
