NIS and Cron

Hi Gurus,

we just ran into some problems after we've activated NIS ( the REAL old
version, not NIS+ or LDAP) on our Servers.
Servers are running Solaris 7 + 8, all patches installed. NIS works really
fine, but Crond refuses to work.
Root can write crontab's, which are all executed, but no other user can.
The users are listed in /etc/cron.d/cron.allow, and I can edit each one's
crontab, but cron refuses to execute the commands. I get a "bad user" entry
in /var/cron/log, if I try to setup a crontab for a user other than root.
I think the problem is that this users are no more listed in /etc/passwd...
I've found a workaround by installing "Sudo" and using root's crontab, but
this is not a real solution for the problem...
Any ideas?

Will summarize.
