so if a machine has the firmware level necessary for a 64bit upgrade, you dont ge the option to keep 32 bit, as far as I can tell. So you then have a 64 bit kernel, and FSF packages break (like, gcc). Did I miss something in the install guide about the option to force a 32bit upgrade? searches of the archives and sunsolve didnt get me any information, other than some suggestion to use some jumpstart option which doesn't apply to my environment.
(ultra2, sol2.6 to sol8 upgrade from cdrom)
