Will disabling SNMP affect NIS

Gurus -
Am running Solaris 8 with a NIS environment. Unfortunately, not too familiar
with the processes or protocols used by NIS.
Have checked docs.sun.com and did google search, but am not able to find any
information that ties SNMP and NIS together.
What, if any, effect will disabling SNMP have on NIS?
