Hi, I'm relatively new to Suns and Solaris. I know this has probably been asked and answered many times, but I can't find the exact procedure.

We'd like to install/reinstall Solaris 8 on a Sun Netra T1 (no CD-ROM drive) that's physically located in a remote hosting facility. We have network access and LOM port access via a terminal server.

I've read that it's possible to have the target machine boot off the network, and that you could use another Solaris workstation with a CD-ROM drive and boot off the Solaris 8 CD there to perform the reinstall. Am I right in this assumption? Would anyone have the exact details of how to go about this?

Also, what if the target machine wasn't even accessible via the network? Say, it's OS has been royally FUBAR and so the only access was through the monitor.

Would it be possible to reload the OS with only the LOM port?

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Alistair A. Israel
