Andy Bach recommended dd because it was only one file
Mike Salehi recommended gnutar on both sides. (so obvious, I feel silly)
Bob Metcalf recommended `split` then `cat` to reassemble.

Gurus.
I have a .dmp file that is 18 gig, I need to transfer to HP-UX, and want to
tar it onto tape to extract it. Is there any trick I can use so that I
dont get nailed on a tar file size limit? I thought there was a 9 gig tar
ball limit.
