E280R not detecting D1000

Have a problem with a pair of 280R's and a D1000 we have just purchased.

The 280R's each have one of the D1000's two scsi buses to themselves
with the 2 supplied terminators on the two spare scsi ports., the d1000
contains 12 36GB HDD so each server has independent access to 6 36gb
HDD.

Problem is a probe-scsi / probe-scsi-all from either 280R can not see
any of the disks in the D1000. Before any points it out we are NOT using
the onboard external scsi on the 280R but purchased a pair of
differential scsi host adapters (didn't personally write the order but
assume they are Sun X6541A's), probe scsi simply returns the pci device
for the scsi card but no disks eg. Just returns /pci@8,7000/scsi@3 and
/pci@8,7000/scsi@3,1 but then moves on to the next pci device. Tried
devfsadm in solaris but as I expected it didn't detect any of the disk
either.

I got this 'challenge' handed to my about lunch time today and the full
system (both 280R's and D1000) need to fully configured (raid,os,etc..)
by end of week so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
