After seeing many questions about DiskSuite, I was thinking the attached procedure would be useful to others. This was done on Monday night, successfully.

We use an SSA-112, connected to two hosts managed by Veritas FirstWatch high-availability software. We originally had one file system spread across 8 disks in tray one and mirrored to tray two.

This procedure adds two disks to each half of the mirror, and distibutes the disks into 3 file systems of 2, 3, and 5 column stripes, according to the need for speed. The goal was to keep the most-used files on the outermost tracks of the most disks.

The procedure involved about 1/2 hour of actual application downtime, and 3 minutes additional downtime for the transition from the secondary server back to the primary server.

(A final step was omitted - creation of hot spare slices for the metatrans devices. I will use four hot spare pools, because there are two slice sizes, and there are two trays, and they should be kept separate.
