On a pentest of a router, I go for the SNMP communities first using a
dictionary. Many times I have found the community strings used exist in
a dictionary or are blasted out all ports because of arp timeouts. Once
you know the ReadWrite string. a tool such as Cain can retrieve the
config of the router.. Then using that, you can go after passwords, etc
by turning a port into a span/monitor port on the switch and using Cain
to sniff more passwords.

my 10 bits..
