('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) There are lots of Open Source/Commercial Vuln & Pen testing tools out there-

Open source:

I really find the Live Auditor CD helpful. I wud recommend to always keep a copy with you to fire up tools on the fly...Auditor & Whax is now merged which is now called BackTrack(Beta). Their collection of Wireless Pen Test tools is real good.

For Web App Assessments you can have a look at WebScarab(a tool from OWASP) to perform automated tests on the site under scrutiny. They also have different plugins that help in performing cookie testing, parameter fuzzing etc..

Commercial tools:

Network Scans- QualysGuard - i feel its the most mature Vuln Scanner out there...

Pen test- Core Impact

Web Application Scanners: SpI Dynamics' WebInspect ; AppScan etc...

Wireless Assessments - AirMagnet(i will rate it high), Airopeek, Netstumbler...

hope that helps
