Re: Metasploit Bind_shell

Hi!

I will assume from your last sentence that we are speaking about two
different machines (i.e., the MS-SQL is not running on the same box as
Metasploit).

You probably noticed a delay between the second and third steps.
You probably also spotted both ends of the "connection" are 127.0.0.1,
that's your local machine (the one you're running Metasploit).

Other than suggesting that you to "Read The Fine Manual" (RTFM)
available, that situation happens because you can't connect to the bind
shell (either due to the firewall or because of the machine not being
vulnerable). When that happens Metasploit helps the waiting connection
to finish by doing a dummy connection from localhost after a certain delay.

Does this module have a "check" functionality? Does it tell you the
machine is vulnerable?

Try other ports (in the high range), or try a reverse shell to either
port 80 or a high port on your end.

Regars,
