There is another product that works in a similar way called Traffic IQ Pro (http://www.karalon.com) that I've been using for while now. Its written by the same guy who created the blade products but it does alot more and was cheaper.

Be careful with free tools though as they have their limitations especially where stateful communications through gateways are concerned.

Check out the archives as to why tools such as Snot are pretty much useless these days for testing IDS.
